Pyeongtaek International Christian School is located in the city of Pyeongtaek which is approximately 50 miles south of the city of Seoul. The Pyeongtaek area has been chosen by the US military to be a “hub” location for Korea and the school is close to Osan Air Force Base and Camp Humphries Army Base. The school’s proximity to these military installations impacts school enrollment and approximately 40% of the students have parents who work for defense-related companies. The city of Pyeongtaek has a population of approximately 400,000 people and is steadily increasing in size. The climate in Pyeongtaek is typically hot and humid in the summer months (June to August) with temperatures of 80-90 degrees. In the winter months (December to February) temperatures are between 20-35 degrees. The dry winter climate limits the amount of snowfall to less than 6-8 inches per year. The weather in spring and fall is usually moderate and comfortable. The school operates off of standard American type curriculum. PICS is on a regular American-style calendar with school starting in late August and ending in early June. Students will be challenged to make their own personal commitments of faith in Jesus Christ and to take steps toward spiritual growth. PICS is looking for individuals who have an enthusiasm and passion for Jesus Christ.

International Christian School, Uijongbu

Uijongbu Christian school
  • Located in Uijongbu, South Korea
  • Grades K-12 offered
  • Fully accredited by ACSI, WASC, Korean Dept. of Education
  • Advanced Placement courses available
  • ESL classes offered

The mission statement of ICS-Uijongbu is to provide an education that enables the student to be a productive, responsible citizen with a positive worldview. Education being the pursuit of truth is taught in the context that Jesus Christ is the absolute truth. ICS-Uijongbu has a reputation
of having a close knit family atmosphere. God has had HIS hand on this the first of all the NICS schools and our prayer is that HIS hand of blessing never be withdrawn. Many different passport countries are represented at ICS-Uijongbu, but if you were to tour our school you may not identify most of them. The greatest ethnic group would be Korean, but the Koreans at ICS-Uijongbu hold passports from different countries. We use a variety of different curricula at ICS-Uijongbu. There is a 5 year cycle that encompasses every subject taught. Several subjects each year are reviewed by the department and recommendations are made that fit into our curriculum and goals. In some instances secular books are chosen because of content or they present our goals more clearly then a Christian publisher. In these cases the teacher knows that they will need to be more direct in the integration of the Bible into their lessons. The steering committee reviews the recommendations and the director approves the
recommendations for implementation the following school year. In most cases, the curriculum used in the science courses comes from a Christian publisher.

Yongsan International
  • Located in Seoul, South Korea
  • Grades K-12 offered
  • Strong, well-rounded academic and extracurricular programs
  • Fully accredited through WASC and ASCI
  • 960 students from over 50 countries
  • Advanced Placement classes offered

Yongsan International School is located in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu in the heart of the foreign community in Seoul. Constructed in 2006, our campus includes over 60 general and specialized classrooms, meeting rooms, administrative offices, an elementary library, a secondary library, a 500-seat auditorium, two gymnasiums, two outdoor playground areas, an indoor swimming pool, a regulation-size artificial turf soccer field and above and below ground parking areas. YIS-Seoul is in the center of Seoul, the capital of South Korea. Twenty-one million people, almost half of the population of Korea, live in the greater Seoul area. It is a safe, modern city with excellent public transportation and many social and cultural opportunities. It is also a great starting point for traveling to many other countries in Asia. Korean is the main language of the country, but Seoul is relatively English friendly. The weather is generally beautiful in the spring and fall, hot and humid in the summer, and at times very cold in the winter.

YIS-Seoul stresses academic and spiritual excellence in all we do as a school. We seek to integrate a biblical worldview into every part of the curriculum and extra-curriculum. We do this with a student body from over 40 countries. God blesses us with many opportunities to share the Gospel and to disciple those who know and those who come to know Christ. Our academic program from K-12 is based on the American curricular model with some modifications to meet the needs of our international population. The common language of all school activities is English. In the secondary school we offer several AP classes, and our students go on to some of the top universities in the United States. We also offer a full range of athletics and other extracurricular activities. Last year almost half of our secondary students participated in our spring break mission trips.
