Hargrave works hard to continually improve the quality of education delivered to its Cadets. Over the last ten years, this effort has been vast. From a campus wide wireless network accessing research databases, the Internet and eBooks from both classrooms and Cadet rooms; to brand new campus space and labs; to an entirely new way to teach middle school students (CIS program); to College Placement, We have run the range.

While our school has acquired exciting new teaching tools and methods, by far the Academy’s greatest asset remains the school’s faculty and staff. Our faculty and staff engage the Cadets continuously both in and out of the classroom. Our Instructors are knowledgeable, thoughtful and honestly push young men within their respective subject areas. They care enough to hold the line and raise the bar on your son’s academic effort.

Outside of the classroom, Instructors, along with coaches and staff members work with our young men to maintain focus on Study Hall and to continually strive for better grades. Hargrave currently has students from 18 different countries participating at the Academy. This diversity greatly benefits the students in our strong International student program.

The traditional high school grades (9-12) are organized at this school in a manner that is both unique and focused. In addition to outstanding academic and athletic programs, the military boarding school environment provides each young man with a first hand opportunity to participate in learning about leadership. This experience sets military school education apart and can make a very valuable difference in later life.

Here a young man finds no lack of direction and guidance. Our traditions dictate that staff and cadet leaders make the extra effort to insure that all cadets know what is expected and are held accountable for meeting those expectations. Privileges and leadership are hard earned, but the result is confidence and self-respect that grows from real accomplishments. Our unique curriculum schedule, known as the One Subject Plan, is more than fifty years old. In addition to the course material, thousands of young men have experienced the absolute value of mastering the subject material they set out to learn. Studying one subject at a time is a unique experience that is intended to sharpen a young man’s focus and improve his ability to concentrate.

We at FCS are keenly aware of a significant dynamic at work in our culture today…and it comes clearly into focus when we view our world and culture through a truly Biblical perspective. That dynamic is the dire need we have for strong leaders with great skill, intelligence, integrity, and sensitivity. I can tell you today that for over three decades at FCS (our legacy of leadership began when Gary and Andra Foss, and started FCS in 1979) we have been producing those skilled, intelligent, honest, sensitive leaders. God has placed in our hands the tools of excellent college-preparatory academics; instructors and mentors who are both capable and dedicated; an environment from which to unashamedly and powerfully proclaim the Truth; facilities that enable us to offer outstanding educational, fine arts, and athletic opportunities; and a strong commitment to growing world-class, culture-changing leaders.
